Coronavirus pandemic has ushered in a new normal, work from home. Now the homes have an additional responsibility of being a workplace. How would you convert your cozy home into a convenient office, without compromising on the essence of homeliness? Here are some design principles as tips.
Make it inspiring
The space where you work should look and feel inspiring. It should serve as place that nurtures creativity. Accentuate it with an art piece, a frame a poster or a sculpture of your choice. Keep some life-transforming books which have inspired you in your journey.
Change the colour palette
The colours in your office home should be pleasing and soothing. Consider your working style, time to be spent and type of work. Use colours of your choice, vibrant or corporate. If your job requires focus choose a sober colour that does not distract you. Blue, light yellow or green combined with white, earthy brown with olive green are some popular choices. You can also mix and match the curtains, furnishings after some days as a refreshing change.
Make it multi-utility
To declutter, use multi-purpose furniture. If the furniture has built-in storage, it will be greatly space saving. Ensure that you have sufficient racks or a wall cabinet for keeping office papers, files, stationary and other utilities. Let it be clean and neat, not messy and cluttered.
Maintain healthy ambience
While working from home, you have to juggle a lot of other things as well. House work, kids online classes, sanitization needs etc. So ensure that your workplace ambience is soothing to your mind and body. Do not block ventilation or light with furniture. Keep the room airy. Let the natural light flow in.
Ensure hygiene
Health and hygiene are the buzzwords today. Make sure your work station is sanitized and hygienic. You may have to touch a lot of things such as files, keyboard, mouse, papers and more. So keep everything spic and span. This will not only relax your mind but boost your productivity as well.
Maintaining a good office home is the need of the hour. All of us have settled with the idea now. So why not make the most of it. Do ahead. Redesign your space. Reinvent your potential.
